Walls or text appear twice

What you see

A wall, a poster or writing shows up twice in the model, slightly shifted, as if the room has two copies of it.

Why it happens

The phone slowly loses track of where it is, so the same wall gets captured in two slightly different places. It happens most after fast turns, long passes, or when the camera sees mostly empty space.

How to fix

  1. Walk slowly. Each new view should overlap the part you just scanned by about a third.
  2. Avoid sharp turns. Pivot gently instead of swinging the phone around.
  3. Capture each area once. Tilt up to the ceiling and down to the floor as you go, and fill orange spots while you're still next to them. Going back over walls you scanned a while ago is what most often adds a second, shifted copy.
  4. Stop when the last wall meets the first one. Overlap by about a step, without walking past your start and sweeping the first wall again.
  5. Don't sweep across big windows or open doorways. Aim at walls and furniture with visible detail.
  6. If the app shows “Weak tracking — slow down” or “Tracking was reset”, slow down and point back at the part you scanned just before, then continue from there.
