Shadows are stuck on the model

What you see

Dark shadows or bright spots from the room are painted onto the model and stay there whichever way you turn it.

Why it happens

The model's colors come straight from your photos, so hard shadows and patches of sunlight become part of the texture.

How to fix

1. Use soft, even light: a bright room with the lights on, or daylight on a cloudy day.
2. Keep the object out of direct sunlight and away from a single strong lamp.
3. Watch that your own shadow doesn't fall on the object as you circle it.
